Maidstone to trial LitterCam technology

New cameras are to be trialled in Kent to catch people throwing litter from cars.

From April, LitterCam cameras will be tested in a pilot scheme Maidstone to fine littering motorists with fines start at £90, increasing to £120 if they don’t pay up within two weeks.

Patent-pending LitterCam technology uses Artificial Intelligence to remotely detect vehicle based littering offences with the platform then securely transmitting footage for validation, before an automatic request is made to the DVLA for details of a vehicle’s registered keeper so a penalty charge notice can then be issued.

The solution includes hardware, software and services – from detection device to the point where a debtor may make an appeal.
