Major investment for minor highways

A £100 million framework tender seeking contractors to conduct minor highways works across Yorkshire and the Humber has been released.

The framework, being tendered by Leeds City Council on behalf of Yorkshire Highway Alliance covers all minor highway and civil engineering works within the boundaries of Leeds City Council, but also for provision to conduct projects for City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, the Borough Council of Calderdale, Kirklees Council and Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, says New Civil Engineer.

This new minor works framework is intended to last 24 months, from 2025 to 2027, and has been split into three lots.

Lot 1 covers construction works valued up to £150,000, Lot 2 covers works valued over £150,000 up to £4M, while Lot 3 is for the provision of winter maintenance and general standby service for highways in the region.

All three lots are for a term of two years with a potential extension of up to another two. Yorkshire Highway Alliance envisages the maximum number of contractors that can be applied to the framework is 12.
