Multiple arrests after M25 slip roads shut

A group of environmental campaigners have caused long traffic jams by staging a sit-in on slip roads onto the M25.

The co-ordinated action across several roads around the orbital, including near Heathrow and the Dartford Crossing led to 42 arrests.

Protest group Insulate Britain tweeted that it was “disrupting the M25” to “demand the government insulate Britain”.

Chief Inspector Paul Austin of Essex Police commented,

“This incident caused significant disruption and our officers worked to resolve it as quickly and safely as possible. I want to thank the drivers affected for their patience and understanding.”
