A new continental conference and exhibition dedicated to intelligent transport systems (ITS) will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, in March 2027.
The inaugural ITS Africa Conference (ITSAC 2027) will run from 9–10 March under the theme ‘Bridging Continents for Smarter Mobility’.
Organisers say the event will take a practical, working-conference approach, bringing together transport authorities, infrastructure owners, operators and technology providers to discuss the challenges facing transport networks across Africa.
The two-day programme will feature plenary and parallel sessions, alongside an exhibition and networking opportunities.
Topics will include intelligent transport systems, connected mobility, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, traffic management, road safety, public transport innovation and sustainable mobility.
The event is intended to encourage collaboration across transport modes and disciplines, recognising the role of integrated technology and infrastructure in moving people and goods efficiently.
Attendees are expected to include national, provincial and local government representatives, transport authorities, road agencies, public transport operators, rail, aviation and port authorities, as well as engineering and consultancy firms, technology providers, research institutions, start-ups, investors and development agencies.
ITSAC 2027 is being organised by Innovative Transport Solutions in partnership with ERTICO, and hosted by the Western Cape Government and the City of Cape Town.
The conference and exhibition will take place at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, Cape Town.
Further information about the event is available on the official ITS Africa Conference website.
