The transport modelling and simulation company PTV is further expanding its solutions offering in the UK through its Umovity parent company.
Umovity brings together hardware and software solutions through PTV and California-based intelligent traffic management solutions company Econolite.
The new EPIQ RADAR sensor solution incorporates detection solution software to deliver superior traffic detection, accuracy, and reliability. As well as the radar detection, it also uses a built-in 1080p camera (30 FPS) with low-light sensitivity for visual validation.
Designed to provide accurate and reliable detection using fewer sensors, EPIQ RADAR is capable of tracking and classifying 128 objects generated from 512 unique detections. With its powerful features, EPIQ RADAR provides lane-by-lane classification, vehicle counts, and travel estimated time of arrival data, supporting the detection needs at stop lines and spotting bicycles and pedestrians, and enabling safety-critical applications like red-light enforcement.
“Umovity’s amalgamation of Econolite-developed hardware and PTV modelling software delivers an exciting combined detection, traffic management and modelling solution, leading to more efficient junctions and safer roads for everyone,” commented PTV UK Managing Director Devrim Kara. “This is very exciting for the team here in the UK – the EPIQ RADAR sensor brings in cutting-edge radar technology with a 110-degree field of view and up to 900 feet of detection, requiring only two sensors to fully cover all approaches at most intersections. Our software engineers have been analysing data collected, and are using it to accurately model traffic movements to deliver safer, greener and more efficient junctions.”
Designed to provide accurate and reliable detection using fewer sensors, EPIQ RADAR is capable of tracking and classifying 128 objects generated from 512 unique detections. With its powerful features, EPIQ RADAR provides lane-by-lane classification, vehicle counts, and travel ETA data, supporting the detection needs for stop bar, advance, departure, bicycles, and pedestrians, and enabling safety-critical applications like mitigation of dilemma zone and red-light running.
The EPIQ RADAR sensor solution consists of two key components: the EPIQ RADAR Sensor with built-in HD camera for visual validation and the EPIQ RADAR Hub. The new Hub provides seamless integration within the traffic cabinet and features an easy-to-use design and an LCD touchscreen display for easy configuration and status monitoring. The complete system also includes an intuitive web interface and remote access management.
“PTV continues to work with data gathered from any third party, and the addition of another new product to the market does not mean users of different hardware will get a lesser service from our team,” and Mr Kara added. “But we put the two businesses together because we are already seeing a combined detection, traffic management and modelling solution is leading to major improvements, and I think the EPIQ RADAR takes us to another level – I can’t wait to deliver it to the UK market.”
