Rees Jeffreys Road Fund celebrates 75th anniversary with new video

This year Rees Jeffreys Road Fund is celebrating 75 years since the creation of the charity and to mark this milestone, its created a new video to celebrate William Rees Jeffreys and the work of the charity.

William Rees Jeffreys was a visionary whose life work was creating better, more attractive, safer and more accessible roads and streets. He organised asphalt trials and led the campaign to seal the nation’s roads, therefore improving travel for road users and reducing roadside nuisance. He was a major force in developing the national road classification system.

As part of the 75th anniversary celebrations the Trustees visited one of the more than 75 Roadside Rests made possible by the Fund over the years, to honour the charity’s visionary founder, William Rees Jeffreys, who it calls the “Godfather of Roads.” Find a list of Roadside Rests across the UK here if you would like to visit one.

You can hear the fund’s Chair, Andy Graham talk about the video on this Highways Voices podcast.
