The National Winter Service Research Group (NWSRG) has launched a series of CPD-accredited
local roadshow events to help boost knowledge and understanding of its national guidance for winter service.
These one-day events will be tailored to the needs of individual locations, taking into consideration local operations, climate and topography. The first roadshow is set to take place in Manchester this April.
Authorities, contractors and those involved in highway operations local to the area are invited to attend and put forward ideas for the agenda. Organised by the NWSRG’s Technical Advisory
Group (TAG), the roadshows will use stage-style ‘TED’ talks to help stakeholders apply the national guidance to their operations.
Mark Dutton, Joint-Chair of the Technical Advisory Group to the NWSRG said: “As Joint Chair of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the NWSRG I am delighted to announce the inaugural TAG roadshow at the Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on 10th April 2024.
“At this free to attend regional event we will focus on case studies highlighting how local authorities have benefitted from adopting various chapters of the NWSRG Practical Guidance document. The day will be very interactive, encouraging discussion and debate between practitioners, contractors and the supply chain. The event is fully supported by the Steering Group to NWSRG and it is hoped that members of the Executive Board will be in attendance.”
In excess of ten members of the TAG, the suppliers to the winter service community, have committed to support this event and bring their knowledge and expertise to the table for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
The Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) has confirmed that the day is CPD-accredited for all those in attendance.
The aim is to visit various regions across the UK, 2/3 roadshows per annum, ensuring that all corners of the country are given the opportunity to benefit from this knowledge sharing event, said the NWSRG.
