They are technical buzzwords we hear a lot – and Sony’s putting them into a solution for the future of transport.
The corporation has announced its developed a common database platform using Blockchain to deliver a Mobility as a Service solution to enable more efficient transport with less reliance on the private car.
It says this is industry’s first project to “successfully realise the recording and sharing of large-scale movement history and revenue allocation by using blockchain technology for MaaS.” It has the scale to cope with seven million simultaneous users.
Sony says using blockchain offers a “decentralised information platform, may contribute to the improvement of travel efficiency and measures for future smart city plans by analysing and utilising movement records and revenue allocation.”
