New South Worcestershire Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) have been published by Worcestershire County Council, setting out a long-term vision to make walking, wheeling, and cycling in Droitwich Spa, Malvern, Pershore, and the city of Worcester, safer, more accessible, and attractive for everyone.

The South Worcestershire LCWIPs follow a public engagement exercise held last year, where residents, businesses, and community groups were invited to share their views on how to improve active travel routes and connections across the area.

Feedback gathered has played a key role in shaping the final plans, ensuring they reflects local priorities and supports healthier, more sustainable travel choices.

Councillor Tom Wells, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport, said:

“The South Worcestershire LCWIPs set out a clear framework for how we can enhance walking and cycling routes across the towns of Droitwich Spa, Malvern, Pershore, and the city of Worcester, helping residents choose how they travel for everyday journeys. They focus on improving safety, accessibility, and connectivity, making it easier for people of all ages and abilities to get around without always relying on the car.”

While LCWIPs do not come with direct funding, having an adopted plan puts the County Council and partners in a strong position to secure investment as new funding opportunities become available. The LCWIPs will also support the Council’s wider goals around health, wellbeing, and sustainable transport across Worcestershire.
