Yunex launches edge computing traffic controller

Yunex Traffic is launching a new Yutraffic Blade Advanced Traffic Controller Platform for the US market, capable of managing traffic with the highest level of security, which it says “is ready for the future of traffic control”.

The company is debuting the new kit during the ITS America Conference in Texas this week, saying this next-generation controller platform’s dual-core processor and powerful engine allows for the controller to expand and manage traffic control applications of today and those that haven’t been developed.

In a statement it explains, “Modern intersections are becoming more complex by the day requiring more than the ability to manage day-to- day traffic scenarios, but to increase the safety of all road users and reduce carbon emissions. As newer technologies were rolled out to combat these issues, it became clear that a secure device was needed that could effectively manage the traffic scenarios and technologies of today, while also being ready to handle technologies of the future. Yunex Traffic meets this challenge with the introduction of the Yutraffic Blade, an edge computing traffic control platform that is powerful enough to run multiple advanced solutions and advanced enough to be able to grow and expand with technology.

“Its scalable architecture and powerful computing engine simplify complex intersection management and consolidates traffic solutions into a single platform, allowing the system to grow and expand as future technologies are adopted.”

The device features a seven inch colour touchscreen monitor, hot swappable dual power supplies and customisable analytics stored directly on the controller.

“I’ve never been involved with a product that has this kind of potential to change the way traffic is managed,” said Rodney Mathis, President and Managing Director of Yunex Traffic US. “We really came back from the future with the Yutraffic Blade. This powerful device is a gamechanger to the industry, and with its expandable and adaptable capabilities, the Yutraffic Blade will be running intersections far into the future.”

Yunex says traffic professionals can access detailed analytical information stored on the controller from any browser, allowing traffic engineers to better manage traffic, minimise congestion and ultimately reduce carbon emissions. The Yutraffic Blade feeds data and device diagnostics to most browser-based interfaces including everything from smart phones to TMC’s. If a site visit is required, the device will provide technicians with predictive maintenance in advance information.

Among its additional capabilities, the Yutraffic Blade can manage CV2X technologies and applications such as pedestrian and wrong way detection, provide travel time, and origin and destination data, using its WiFi capability. It is the only controller on the market that arms traffic engineers with historical intersection data and advanced analytics, allowing them to optimize timing plans without the need for expensive 3rd party reporting solutions.

Yunex adds the Yutraffic Blade was designed with Enterprise Network Security in mind from day one and responds to the growing needs around critical infrastructure and Zero-trust environments, making it a traffic control platform that agencies and their IT departments can rely on.
