Walk, Wheel or Ride: New campaign encourages Active Travel across Kent

Kent County Council’s has launched a new promotional campaign aimed at improving residents’ approach to Active Travel.

Running across social media, bus advertising and local radio, the Walk, Wheel or Ride campaign highlights the simple benefits of choosing to walk, cycle or wheel instead of using a car for short trips.

The campaign focuses on the idea that active travel doesn’t have to be about distance, speed or fitness levels. Whether travelling to the shops, visiting friends or heading to an appointment, small journeys can support physical wellbeing, boost mood and help people feel more connected to their local area.

Inclusivity is a key message throughout the campaign. Walking, cycling and wheeling all count as active travel, including the use of mobility scooters and wheelchairs, helping ensure the message reflects how people move in everyday life.

Spencer Dixon, Deputy Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said:

“Active travel doesn’t have to mean long cycle rides or big lifestyle changes. It’s about making every day journeys in a way that works for you.

‘Whether you walk, wheel or ride, even small trips can make a positive difference to both physical and mental wellbeing, while helping reduce congestion and improve our local environment.”

The campaign’s core message is clear and positive: little journeys can bring big benefits.
