Transport for London (TfL) is still yet to confirm when Gallows Corner will fully reopen to all traffic. Parts of the major junction in Romford reopened on 10 May – including the eastbound carriageway of the flyover, Straight Road and Main Road – but a date for the full completion of the project is yet to be confirmed, says the Southend Echo.
TfL have directed press requests to a previous statement from Scott Haxton, TfL’s director of capital delivery, in which he said:
“We know how frustrating this situation continues to be for local residents, businesses and road users, and we would like to thank everyone for their patience while we have been working with ESW to safely progress this work.
“We remain focused on fully reopening the road network at Gallows Corner and supporting ESW to complete final testing and commissioning works as quickly and safely as possible, while protecting vital water supplies.”
TfL said all “significant” works as part of the Gallows Corner project have now been completed, but the flyover needs to remain closed westbound, and the A12 southbound needs to remain bus-only, to allow water main works to continue safely.
