Active Travel England appoints Fusion Media to support Making Active Places Conference 2026

Fusion Media has been appointed to support the delivery of Active Travel England’s flagship Making Active Places Conference 2026 in Manchester.

The annual conference, taking place from 22-23 September, will be a major national platform for sharing evidence, policy insight and best practice in active travel, bringing together transport professionals, local authorities, planners, stakeholders and delivery partners from across the country. It plays an important role in strengthening collaboration across the sector, showcasing innovation and reinforcing the national leadership needed to create safer, healthier and more connected places.

Fusion’s role will include conference and operational management, venue and supplier liaison, programme coordination, speaker support, sponsorship and exhibitor management, delegate communications, hybrid event delivery and on-site support. Fusion was selected after a competitive tender process.

Fusion will also support the conference’s commercial development by identifying and managing sponsorship and exhibition opportunities. Drawing on its networks across the active travel, transport and sports sectors, the agency will work to secure brand-safe commercial partners, manage exhibitor relationships and help drive additional ticket sales and awareness.

Adam Tranter, CEO of Fusion Media, said:

“Active travel has a vital role to play in shaping healthier, safer and better connected places, and the Making Active Places Conference will be an essential opportunity for the sector to come together, share knowledge and build momentum.

“We are delighted to have secured this partnership with Active Travel England and to be bringing our event delivery, communications and commercial expertise to such an important national platform.”

Chris Boardman, National Active Travel Commissioner said:

“Our Making Active Places conference will bring together people united by a simple but vital mission: giving everyone the real choice to walk, wheel or cycle as part of everyday life.

“Active travel as a genuine everyday option isn’t just a nice-to-have − it’s integral to building places that are healthier, safer and simply better to live in. I’m glad Fusion Media are on board to help us make this year’s conference a great succes
