Birmingham’s World Congress bid 2024 through to next stage

Birmingham’s bid to host the 2024 ITS World Congress has taken a step forward with the bid committee being invited to interview by organisers ERTICO – ITS Europe.

“We are delighted to announce that the West Midlands bid to host the ITS World Congress in 2024 has taken a step forward,” says a statement posted on the ITS (UK) website.  “The bid team has been invited to present to ERTICO – ITS Europe’s selection committee at the end of next month.  Given the present travel restrictions, this will be a virtual interview. This virtual interview is a first for ERTICO and shows ERTICO commitment to the Congresses and innovation during this challenging time.

“There will then be a period of evaluation with a preferred bidder being appointed and then the final decision being made after negotiation.  This process is expected to conclude by the end of the year.

“We thank all members who “backed the bid” for their support which has got us to this stage of the process.  We will keep you up to date with the situation as often as we are able.”

This news comes during the week where ITS America announced they had reluctantly moved this year’s Congress to be an online event only.
