Clearview Intelligence wins prestigious Best Use of Data award from ITS (UK)

Clearview Intelligence’s innovative Insight platform has won a hotly-contested ITS (UK) Award in the Best Use of Data and Connectivity category for what the judges described as “a great example of how data and digital connectivity can lead to real life impacts”.

Insight is a Smart Mobility platform and provides a suite of applications for the monitoring, management, reporting and analysis of multi-modal transport systems and associated environments. These include Count and Classification, Journey Time Monitoring and Parking. Utilising data from a variety of sources, including Internet of Things Sensors and API Services, Insight can be used standalone or as part of a Smart Cities platform.

The Award entry concentrated on Insight’s software application that helps authorities tackle congestion and its economic and environmental impacts, revolutionising the monitoring, visualisation, and analysis of traffic journey times utilising floating vehicle data.

The judges were impressed at the flexibility of the application, which has been used to monitor key events at Glastonbury and Silverstone as well as pre-analysis of routes for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.  Elsewhere Bristol City Council used the journey time data to tweak SCOOT signal timing around the Ashton Gate stadium area to help concert-goers leave the venue faster by monitoring all key routes and not just the ones it had covered using ANPR.  The system is also used in other cities to display journey time to Variable Message Signs across the city to inform drivers of current traffic conditions on key routes.

Receiving the award on the night, Head of Product Management Alastair King (pictured, left, with ITS (UK) President Steve Norris) said, “This is a fantastic win and we are delighted that our Insight Smart Mobility platform has been recognised by the industry. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our in-house development team whose dedication and expertise enable us to deliver a platform that delivers real benefits to our users and helps them to achieve their goals.”

Clearview understands that more than a dozen entries were submitted for this category, narrowed down to a shortlist of five, so to come out on top shows the excellence of the product.  Find out more about Insight here.
