East Sussex starts search for contractor for its highways infrastructure service contract

East Sussex County Council has started its search to appoint a single provider to enter into a contract for the provision of the maintenance, improvement and design of the publicly maintained highways and civil infrastructure within the region.

Work on the contract will include highway maintenance (including roads and bridges), winter maintenance, highways improvements, professional services, design services including transportation modelling and forecasting, sign design, road safety auditing and drainage work.

The council has called for expressions of interest in is highways infrastructure services contract, starting in 2023 and running for an initial term of six years 11 months with an option to extend for an additional seven years. The contract is valued at £730 million.

The expression of interest notice wants three or four organisations to tender for the contract. Deadline for initial submissions is 13th December 2021. Invitations to tender are expected to go out in mid-January 2022.
