Former Skanska chief operating officer Andrew English has joined M Group as the firm’s new Managing Director of its energy infrastructure business.
He will spearhead the group’s whole-life energy infrastructure offer, targeting complex engineering and utilities work as clients upgrade critical assets and push towards net zero, says Construction Enquirer.
According to M Group the division will play a central role in modernising energy networks and integrating new technologies including battery storage, EV infrastructure and solar power. English brings a strong track record across infrastructure, utilities and energy in both the UK and Australia.
Before joining Skanska as infrastructure chief two years ago, English led AtkinsRéalis’ UK transportation division and earlier ran John Holland Group’s national infrastructure business in Australia.
His career has spanned transport, water, energy, aviation and marine, with M Group looking to use that experience to drive growth and delivery across major programmes.
Alain Loosveld, chief operating officer at M Group, said:
“The energy market is hugely exciting, and we continue to expand and make significant investment in this sector. As Andrew’s appointment demonstrates, our focus on two distinct areas, Energy Infrastructure and In-Home, emphasises the strategic importance we place on these rapidly evolving markets.”
