After Carlisle’s much-anticipated Southern Link Road was opened earlier this week, David Lowery, Divisional Managing Director – Infrastructure Services Division and Executive Board Member at Galliford Try has posted on LinkedIn that the “pride and sense of collaboration was overwhelming.”

“For our customer, Cumberland Council, this project was conceived over 50 years ago,” he said. “As a contractor and delivery partner, we do not underestimate the time, tenacity and hurdles that have been overcome to ensure that this vital infrastructure is delivered.

“We have been honoured as a business to work on this scheme, to support Alan Bingham and his team to safely deliver a project which not only improves connectivity, but reduces congestion and unlocks opportunities for housing and economic growth across the region.

“These vital pieces of infrastructure play a huge part in advancing the productivity and economic growth in our communities, and perhaps more importantly, leaving a positive lasting legacy that improves people’s lives for generations to come.

Thank you to Cumberland Council, Homes England, our delivery team and our supply chain partners. Together [the Carlisle Southern Link Road] has been bought to life.”
