The IET has announced that His Majesty King Charles III is now its patron.

Receiving an Honorary Fellowship of the then IEE in 1981, King Charles – alongside the Royal Family – has supported engineers across the world for many years.

“We’re proud of our long history of Royal association, which started with our incorporation by Royal Charter in 1921 and continued through the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for nearly 70 years,” the organisation said. “We’d like to thank His Majesty for recognising the work that we do, to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community to engineer a better world.”
