The Institute for Driverless Transport’s Research Roadmap has announced that its Research Roadmap will be launched on 28 October.

The Research Roadmap sets out the unanswered questions that will shape the impact of autonomous vehicles. They fall into five broad areas: Speed of Rollout, Social Change, Economics & Productivity, Job Displacement, and Security & Geopolitics. The questions include how driverless transport could change vehicle ownership, what a fair transition means for people whose jobs involve driving, whether new services will improve independence for disabled and older people, and how the UK should approach dependence on overseas technology.

The launch event, taking place in London, is a first step from identifying the questions to making progress towards answering them. It will open with a short introduction to the Roadmap, followed by plenty of time to talk over a drink, and you’ll be able to indicate which topics interest you most so you can find others exploring the same ones.
