ITS Ireland has paid a glowing tribute to Dónal Hodgins who recently completed his term as Chair of the Network of National ITS Associations.

“The Board and members of ITS Ireland wish to formally acknowledge and thank Dónal Hodgins for his outstanding contribution to ITS Nationals over his two-year term as Chair, which concluded at the end of June 2026,” the organisation said.

“When Dónal took on the role in 2024, he did so with the full backing of ITS Ireland – and he has more than repaid that support. During his tenure he grew ITS Nationals into a strong, genuinely independent network representing national ITS associations across almost thirty European countries, firmly establishing it as a respected voice for ITS interests within the European Union.”

ITS Ireland said Mr Hodgins leaves the network stronger than he found it, and in doing so “has created real, lasting opportunities for ITS Ireland and its members.

“His commitment extended well beyond the committee room. Through active engagement at international plenaries, symposiums and events, Dónal consistently raised Ireland’s profile within the global ITS community and opened doors for ITS Ireland and its members. Initiatives such as the joint ITS Nationals presence at Intertraffic in Amsterdam are a fine example of the practical, member-focused benefits he delivered.”

‍Chairpersonship of ITS Nationals now passes onto ITS Mobility’s Steve Schneider.

“On behalf of everyone at ITS Ireland, we thank Dónal most sincerely for his energy, dedication and generosity of time, and we wish him every continued success in his new endeavours,” ITS Ireland concluded.
