LCRIG launches webinar series

The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) is to provide a series of webinars to knowledge share in the industry, starting with one concentrating on collaborative procurement.

Working alongside the Transport Technology Forum and Crown Commercial Service the event on 1 October will concentrate on delivering innovation.

Entitled Delivering innovation through collaborative procurement’, the webinar will examine a number of topics including:

  • Procurement challenges faced by local authorities
  • How to make contracts more accessible to SMEs
  • Procurement in other sectors
  • Funding challenges
  • How to share best practice and harness innovation
  • What the future of procurement might look like.

The panel is made up of Will Britain, President of the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG); Martin Duffy, Chief Executive of LCRIG (pictured); Darren Capes, ITS Policy Lead, Traffic and Technology Division, Department for Transport; Andrea Fitzgerald, Regional Head Business Management London & South East, Crown Commercial Service.

The event is being chaired by LCRIG Content Director Alec Peachey who said, “The event is taking place on 1 October, which would have been the last day of this year’s Strictly Highways conference. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 we are unable to meet in person this year so it’s important that we’re able to bring the highways community together virtually with a view to linking what we’re doing online to the physical event when it returns next year.

“Finding the right technologies, processes and approaches to procurement will be key going forward so I’m really looking forward to hosting this discussion. It promises to shine a light on some of the problems the sector faces in this area as well as the innovative solutions available to overcome them.”
