Location pioneer sees surge in searches during TV campaign

The location innovator what3words has seen a steep rise in the number of people using its service, coinciding with a national TV campaign on ITV.

The campaign followed investment in the company by ITV, which saw it take a minority stake in return for advertising inventory across ITV’s channels and the ITV Hub.

The TV advertising industry body Thinkbox has published a graph showing a high correlation between when the adverts were featured on TV and an increase in the number of what3words searches.

what3words has divided the world into a grid of 3m squares, giving each its own three word identifier, called the what3words address.  For example, the Highways News registered office is ///yachting.qualifier.tougher.
