Microsoft increases ITS commitment by joining ERTICO

Pan-European intelligent transport systems organisation ERTICO has announced that Microsoft has joined its Partnership, saying the technology corporation’s participation adds another important player in the connectivity sector.

Microsoft says its mission is “to enable people and businesses worldwide to realise their full potential by creating technology that transforms the ways people work, play, communicate and move”. The company offers a comprehensive range of operating systems, cross-device productivity applications, server applications, software development tools, business solution applications, desktop and server management tools, video games, and training and certification services.

“I am delighted to welcome Microsoft to the ERTICO Partnership. This new collaboration is another great example of ERTICO connecting the dots: bringing an important player from the Connectivity Industry to the ERTICO Partnership,” says Joost Vantomme, ERTICO CEO. “Microsoft’s leading role and expertise in developing cloud-based solutions will support our efforts to provide safer mobility solutions and services. With our joint vision of developing new technologies through shared projects, we will seek to overcome barriers in urban mobility through a user-centric approach, and we are looking forward to leveraging advanced data insights and continuing to deliver smart mobility services together with Microsoft”.

Microsoft offers cloud-based solutions that provide customers with software, services, and content over the Internet through shared computing resources located in centralised data centres.

“We are putting people at the center of smart mobility and using this moment of investment across Europe to build more reliable, accessible and efficient transport”, says Jeremy Goldberg, Director of Critical Infrastructure, Worldwide Public Sector, Microsoft. “By partnering with ERTICO, we can support communities across Europe to develop transportation services that serve all community members.”

ERTICO says its Partners will be able to benefit from this new Partnership while collaborating on innovative connectivity solutions for smart mobility. While joining the ERTICO Partnership, Microsoft will be able to access an extensive network of smart mobility players in different sectors and benefit from the opportunities to participate in the EU co-funded projects and international cooperation.
