Plan ahead: National Highways sounds warning ahead of year-long A3 junction works

Drivers in Surrey are being warned to plan ahead with lane restrictions at a key junction on the A3 set to be in place for the rest of the year from next month.

National Highways has said “delays are likely” during repairs on the concrete structure of the A3 Dennis Roundabout, in Guildford, and the road between the roundabout and Woodenbridge footbridge, says the BBC.

The work is set to begin on 11 May, marking the first set of overnight closures until the project’s completion. The first phase of work will focus on the roundabout to repair the concrete to both bridges.

National Highways said a lane closure would be required on the west side of the roundabout for the duration of the works.

The second phase of the works will be on the A3, and will include resurfacing part of the A3 carriageway, which is due to begin in June.

National Highways said the repair project would reduce the need for disruptive maintenance in future, and give drivers a safer, smoother journey, but the project is set to begin less than a year after the completion of a series of major weekend closures caused by the extensive A3/M25 interchange works at Junction 10.
