Scaling up seamless mobility: ERTICO publishes ITS European Congress 2026 report

ERTICO – ITS Europe has published its 17th ITS European Congress report.

Organised by ERTICO and hosted by İSBAK and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, in collaboration with the European Commission and with the support of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB), and ITS Türkiye, the Congress served as a strategic platform for industry leaders, policymakers, public authorities, and researchers from across Europe and beyond, marking a defining moment for intelligent transport.

Erdem Samut, CEO, ISBAK described the Congress as an “historic opportunity to consolidate Istanbul’s place in the global arena as a technology brand and to prepare the ground for new international collaborations,” said

Joost Vantomme CEO, ERTICO-ITS Europe, added:

“This 17th ITS European Congress showed that delivering seamless mobility is scaling up. Technology, policy and dialogue are essential building blocks.”

The Congress opened with high-level speeches from Nuri Aslan, Acting Mayor, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Angelos Amditis, ERTICO Chairman, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Acting Head of the EU Delegation to Türkiye Jurgis Vilcinskas, and Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Dr Ömer Fatih Sayan, setting a strong call of collaboration to advance integrated and sustainable mobility.

In terms of statistics the event attracted 2,700 attendees from 54 countries, with 800 at the opening ceremony, and the Congress featured 400+ international speakers at 115 sessions, 1,100 knowledge pass holders and over 140+ exhibitors! showcasing the latest in ITS technology.
