SWARCO’s Head of Region for the UK & Ireland says Dynniq integration has gone “better than he could have hoped for”

The acquisition of Dynniq Mobility by SWARCO, announced at the end of September 2021, enters the next phase of its integration plan with the businesses working hard on aligning the SWARCO Traffic and the former Dynniq UK organisations.

The acquisition has had a significant impact on how both businesses are perceived as a global player in the ITS industry. To establish a common feeling, both internally and externally, the company has decided to move towards a joint SWARCO organisation with a unified identity as quickly as possible, and the rebrand of the Dynniq Mobility to SWARCO took place in May of this year.

The Head of Region for SWARCO in the UK and Ireland, John Pickworth, told Highways News of his delight on how Dynniq has fitted into the business, and how it is bringing customers a greatly enhanced suite of traffic management products and solutions.

“I know from previous experience that when there is an acquisition, there is always a period of adjustment while the two businesses integrate, but in this case it has gone better than I could have hoped for,” commented Mr Pickworth. “The teams have been working hard together with the common goal of providing enhanced solutions to meet our customer needs”

Combining SWARCO’s market-leading electronic signage range which includes variable message signs (VMS), vehicle activated signs (VAS) and Prism signs with Dynniq’s strong reputation as an end-to-end solutions & service provider, has allowed for a complementary and robust market offering.

Presenting a united front at this year’s Traffex exhibition, SWARCO were able to talk to customers about their strategic growth plans along with the announcement of bringing together Dynniq’s Urban Traffic Management Control (UTMC) platform with their innovative MyCity solution. These powerful tools will allow Network Operators to bring together multiple systems, devices and data streams into a single real-time platform for a more efficient management of road networks.

In addition to enhancing their traffic management portfolio, SWARCO has expanded their offering in the road marking systems business through the acquisition of HITEX Group in October 2021. The HITEX Group is very well established in the UK’s road safety sector and this has unlocked great potential in developing road safety with high performance road markings, opening up the market for SWARCO’s SOLIDPLUS beads and 2-component MMA systems.

SWARCO are also building up their partnerships with other businesses having joined forces with the UK and Ireland’s largest manufacturer and supplier of portable and temporary ITS solutions, SRL Traffic Systems.

The partnership is an extension of the ongoing relationship between the two businesses which allows customers to benefit from SRL’s bespoke, flexible and fast-paced service with the well-established SWARCO technology with the aim of making access to temporary sign installations simpler, faster, and more effective.

Mr Pickworth added “The next steps are to cement and communicate our strategy moving forward, bringing the full capability of our ITS and Road Marking Systems to the UK & Ireland markets. With end to end ITS solutions, Smart Charging (EV), access control capability and advanced road marking systems in our offering, we are perfectly poised to support the future of our industry”
