Commercial EV charging solutions provider TUL has announced Tharsus as its manufacturing partner, marking a major milestone in TUAL’s growth strategy and reinforcing its commitment to building high-value clean technology in Britain.
The partnership will see Tharsus optimise production of TUAL’s PowerUp Charger – the company’s robust, rapidly deployable and battery-buffered high-performance DC fast charger – paving the way for efficient, high-volume manufacturing and large-scale deployment.
The announcement follows Bicester-based TUAL securing Made in Britain status for the business and its PowerUp Charger, recognising the company’s commitment to British manufacturing provenance as it scales a technology designed to solve one of the most pressing infrastructure barriers facing commercial fleet electrification.
Working closely with TUAL’s design and engineering teams, Tharsus will help ensure that the challenging transition from proof of concept and field trials to full production is as seamless as possible – applying its proven expertise in building, scaling and industrialising advanced technological solutions.
Based in Blyth, Northumberland, Tharsus is one of the UK’s foremost manufacturing partners, having established an industry-leading position in scaling from prototype to production volumes of complex electro-mechanical products.
The company has delivered complex projects involving lithium-ion battery packs, intelligent control systems and high-reliability power electronics for leading technology and mobility partners. Tharsus’ work includes advanced energy systems for autonomous and electric mobility platforms, industrial power modules, and connected robotics, where precise electrical performance, safety and reliability are mission-critical.
Its exceptional expertise in the field makes Tharsus uniquely positioned to support TUAL in scaling production of the PowerUp Charger, a system that combines intelligent battery buffering, robust power electronics and predictive software to deliver dependable fast charging in grid-constrained environments, wherever it’s needed.
As TUAL looks ahead to scaling production and serving the needs of customers across Europe moving forward, Tharsus offers the flexibility, supply-chain strength and production maturity required to take the PowerUp Charger from early-stage builds through to mass-manufacture.
The Made in Britain mark is the official, protected collective mark for British manufacturers, used by members to identify businesses and products made in Great Britain or Northern Ireland. For TUAL, achieving Made in Britain status underlines the company’s focus on building a scalable, export-ready manufacturing model rooted in British engineering, production capability and industrial resilience.
Phil Clarke, Founder and CEO at TUAL, said:
“Delivering on our uptime and performance targets requires a manufacturing partner with exceptional technical capability and operational discipline. Tharsus brings exactly that. They understand the importance of building quality into every stage of the process and have the experience to support our move from pilot to scalable production. It was very clear to us that this was the right partnership to secure from the outset.
“PowerUp has been developed to solve a very real infrastructure problem for commercial fleets, but it also represents the kind of advanced clean technology Britain should be building, scaling and exporting. Achieving Made in Britain status is an important marker of that ambition. It reflects the strength of the UK’s manufacturing base, and the role that British engineering can play in delivering practical, dependable infrastructure for the electric transition.”
