Via East Midlands appoints new Managing Director

Nottinghamshire County Council owned highways company, Via East Midlands, has announced the appointment a new MD following the retirement of the current post holder, Doug Coutts, following a successful 40-year career in the highways sector.

Dan Maher, currently the Managing Director of the Arc Partnership, the Council’s property joint venture company, will be taking on the combined role of Managing Director for both companies.

Mr Maher will take up his role on 1 August, and will look to further develop Via, primarily as the Council’s strategic highways partner, but also as a commercial enterprise building on the existing joint working relationship between the two organisations.

Gary Farnell, Chairman of Via, speaking on behalf of the Via Board and Leadership Team, said: “I would like to thank Doug on behalf of everyone at Via and Nottinghamshire County Council for his leadership since the inception of Via and wish him all the best.

“Dan brings with him the skills and experience from a successful career in both the public and private sector, and has established a strong leadership reputation in Nottinghamshire in his 6 years as Managing Director of Arc, we’re delighted to welcome him onboard.”

Dan Maher said: “The combined Managing Director role is a great opportunity to both explore further collaboration and, to deliver on the highways and transport priorities within the County Council plan alongside commercial opportunities.”
