Road marking and highway safety specialists WJ Group, has opened two new depots near Chesterfield and Stoke to support the continued growth and expansion of the business.

The investment forms part of WJ’s ongoing expansion strategy, increasing operational capacity, enhancing regional support for customers, and providing dedicated facilities for specialist areas of the business.

The new depot near Stoke, located five minutes from the company’s Northern headquarters, has been established as a dedicated base for WJ Sunstone, WJ’s specialist technologies division. The facility will support the continued growth of the Sunstone business, which provides technologies including solar-powered generators, security towers and other ITS solutions.

The opening marks WJ Sunstone’s second dedicated depot, alongside its existing Whitstable facility, while also freeing up capacity at the neighbouring Stoke depot to support the wider growth of the business.

WJ’s new Chesterfield depot, located close to Junction 29 of the M1, provides a new operational base for employees across the region and strengthens support for the company’s road marking contracts throughout Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and the surrounding counties. The new facility will provide a more efficient regional hub, improving operational flexibility and supporting the delivery of existing and future contracts.

As part of the company’s continued investment in the region, WJ also plans to recruit additional employees for the Chesterfield depot as operations continue to expand.

Wayne Johnston, Founder at WJ, said: “The opening of our new depots in Stoke and Chesterfield represent another important milestone in WJ’s continued growth. Investing in regional facilities allows us to better support our customers, strengthen our operational capabilities and provide our teams with the resources they need to deliver projects safely and efficiently.

“Stoke provides a dedicated home for our expanding Sunstone division, while Chesterfield strengthens our presence in the East Midlands and positions us to support existing contracts as well as future opportunities. As we continue to grow, we’re also pleased to be creating employment opportunities and investing in the communities where we operate.”
