VolkerHighways’ Royal Borough team awarded CCS Certificate of Exellence

VolkerHighways’ Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead team recently received a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ from the Considerate Constructors Scheme, for its work on the borough’s Highway Management and Maintenance contract.

The audit, which took place in August, saw the contract awarded an impressive nine out of nine points, in each of the scheme’s five categories: appearance, community, environment, safety and workforce.

The team was commended for its best practice in areas such as community engagement, both in terms of keeping residents informed about works and also initiatives like providing traffic management for local charity events.

The audit also noted the team’s robust health and safety practices, its monitoring of environmental factors such as waste and energy consumption, effective communication within the team and the well-presented depot and commercial fleet. An ‘Exceptional’ rating was awarded, with a total score of 45.

Daron Mizen, project manager for VolkerHighways, said: “The team here at the Royal Borough works hard to maintain the highest standards and apply best practice in everything we do – both on site and within our offices. It’s wonderful to receive this recognition of our efforts, from the Considerate Constructors Scheme.”

Councillor Gerry Clark, cabinet member for transport and infrastructure, said: “The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a well-respected, national standard with robust lines of enquiry. I’m delighted with this recognition of the hard work and professionalism of the team responsible for our Highway Management and Maintenance contract.”
