Yunex Traffic has partnered with Bournemouth School for Girls’ Robotics Programme to inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators, and manufacturing professionals as part of National Manufacturing Day 2026.
The initiative forms part of Yunex Traffic’s ongoing commitment to STEM engagement, social value, and raising awareness of career opportunities within engineering, technology, and manufacturing.
The visit gave students the opportunity to engage directly with engineering and technology professionals, gaining a behind-the-scenes insight into how intelligent traffic systems are designed, developed, manufactured, tested, and deployed to keep people moving safely and efficiently every day.
During the session, Yunex Traffic representatives explained the technologies that underpin modern traffic infrastructure, including sensors, electronics, control systems, software, data, systems integration, and manufacturing processes. Students also heard real-world examples of engineering challenges and learned how ideas progress from concept through design, manufacturing, testing, and deployment.
The team also highlighted the wide range of routes into engineering and technology careers, including apprenticeships, graduate opportunities, and early careers pathways within Yunex Traffic.
Bournemouth School for Girls has established one of the UK’s largest all-girl robotics programmes, with 120 girls participating across multiple robotics initiatives. Working alongside students involved in these programmes provided an opportunity for Yunex Traffic colleagues to share industry experience while learning more about the ambitions, creativity, and enthusiasm of the next generation of engineers.
Encouraging more young people, particularly girls and young women, to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics remains an important priority for both industry and education. By providing opportunities for students to meet engineering professionals and explore real-world applications of technology and manufacturing, partnerships such as this help build awareness of future career opportunities while demonstrating the positive impact engineering can have on society.
