A strategic partnership between Zaptec and Kraken is set to strengthen Europe’s energy ecosystem, with the aim of helping more customers unlock greater value through intelligent charging, smart tariffs, and connected energy services.
The future of EV charging is no longer defined by hardware alone. As homes, vehicles and the electricity grid become increasingly connected, the EV charger is evolving into one of the most important intelligent energy devices in the home.
Today, Zaptec, Europe’s market leader in AC EV charging, announced a strategic partnership with Kraken, the most-loved operating system for utilities. With almost 1,000 Zaptec chargers installed per day in June, the partnership combines proven scaled charging with Kraken’s advanced energy platform, to connect more drivers to the future of energy across Europe.
Zaptec customers will be able to access intelligent EV tariffs, optimise when they charge, reduce energy costs and benefit from a growing range of connected energy services from major European utilities using the Kraken operating system, including EDF Energy, E.ON Next and Octopus Energy.
For customers, the value of an EV charger should not end on the day it is installed. Through software, open integrations and strategic partnerships, Zaptec is building an ecosystem that continually unlocks new capabilities and services over the lifetime of every charger. From smart tariffs and solar integration to vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and energy flexibility, every new connection helps customers get more value from their
investment.
The announcement follows Zaptec becoming the first manufacturer to earn the Mercury Mark for an AC EV charger. The Mercury Consortium is a vendor-neutral, nonprofit organization. helping make connected energy services, including smart charging and energy flexibility, more accessible. Together, Mercury and partnerships such as Zaptec and Kraken’s are helping accelerate the transition to a smarter, more connected energy system.
