Buckinghamshire Council has published its 2026 to 2027 Highways Maintenance Transparency Report, providing residents and stakeholders with key information about how the county’s roads and other highway assets are maintained.
The report has been published as part of a new national initiative to improve transparency and accountability in highway maintenance. It sets out the condition of Buckinghamshire’s roads, the challenges facing the network, how maintenance funding is being invested, and the work planned to keep people moving safely across the county.
Buckinghamshire is responsible for looking after more than 3,300 kilometres of roads, alongside thousands of other assets including pavements, cycleways, bridges, drainage systems and streetlights. The report explains how these assets are monitored and maintained, how maintenance priorities are decided, and what residents can expect to see happening on the network over the coming year.
Among the highlights, the report shows that around £67 million is expected to be invested in highway maintenance during 2026/27, with plans to resurface roads, deliver preventative maintenance treatments, improve drainage, maintain bridges and strengthen the network’s resilience to severe weather. It also explains how public reports submitted through FixMyStreet help inform maintenance decisions and how Buckinghamshire is investing in new technology and innovative repair methods to deliver better value for residents.
