Nottinghamshire County Council has highlighted progress on highways, transport and electric vehicle infrastructure after reporting it completed 40 of the 48 priority actions set out in its 2024/25 Annual Delivery Plan.

The authority’s Annual Report, presented to Cabinet, says four of the five actions under its ambition to improve transport and digital connections were completed during the year, with the remaining action continuing into the next delivery plan. Overall, 40 of the council’s 48 priority actions across all service areas were completed, with the remaining eight ongoing.

Among the transport achievements, the council points to the delivery of its three-year capital highways improvement programme, aimed at improving roads, footways, cycling infrastructure and drainage to help residents travel more safely and reliably. The report also highlights continued work to develop the East Midlands Combined County Authority’s Local Transport Plan, intended to improve connectivity while encouraging more walking, cycling and public transport use.

The report says the council continued to expand access to electric vehicle charging, including trials allowing residents without off-street parking to safely charge vehicles using pavement cable channels. It also references ongoing work to improve public rights of way and active travel routes, alongside measures to enhance digital connectivity across the county.

The council says its long-term ambition is to increase public satisfaction with highways, footpaths and bus services while making better use of technology and data to improve the transport network. It adds that future work will continue through the new East Midlands Combined County Authority transport planning process, which is intended to prioritise investment where it can deliver the greatest benefit for communities and businesses.

The annual report concludes that the council has made “good progress” against its strategic ambitions during 2024/25, with the remaining priority actions carrying forward into the current financial year rather than being abandoned.
