e-con Systems, the embedded vision solutions specialists, have announced the launch of TrafficSenz™, a new 5MP Edge-AI ANPR camera designed for Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling, traffic enforcement, and intelligent transportation systems.
The solution is designed to address a key challenge in high-speed ANPR deployments: capturing a usable license plate image consistently across different speeds, lighting conditions, and traffic environments. TrafficSenz™ incorporates camera-side vehicle detection and self-triggered capture, allowing the camera to detect an approaching vehicle from the image and initiate capture without depending on a separate external trigger source.
This can simplify roadside architecture by reducing dependency on additional trigger hardware and associated integration requirements.
The technology is particularly relevant for deployments where reliable vehicle capture timing is critical.
In MLFF applications, a missed or unusable plate image can result in an exception that requires additional processing or manual intervention.
TrafficSenz™ is designed to improve the availability of usable plate reads by combining imaging, illumination, triggering, and AI directly at the roadside.
Its 5MP Sony Pregius S global shutter sensor captures fast-moving vehicles without the geometric distortion associated with rolling-shutter imaging. The camera supports vehicle capture speeds of up to 300 km/h, making it suitable for high-speed highway and tolling environments.
