Glasgow: Hundreds of speeding offences detected by new M8 cameras

Safety Cameras Scotland has revealed that 745 offences have been recorded since new speed cameras were installed on the M8 in Glasgow on April 2.

The Glasgow Times previously reported that the temporary cameras are enforcing a 40mph speed limit on part of the motorway. They are situated on the M80 southbound at Junction 1, leading onto the M8 westbound, between Junctions 13 and 14.

Visible signage is in place advising motorists that there are temporary speed restrictions.

The cameras come as Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is carrying out “essential resurfacing” works on the M8 eastbound, which includes the M80 off-slip road at Junction 1.

The minimum penalty for speeding is £100 and three penalty points.
