Havering Council “disappointed” by effects of latest Gallows Corner delays

Andrew Blake-Herbert, the Chief Executive of Havering Council, has said that he is ‘extremely disappointed’ with the delayed reopening of Gallows Corner roundabout and flyover in Romford that have been closed to most traffic since last June.

Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) has confirmed that teams are working ‘around the clock’ to get the ‘complex’ repair completed as quickly as possible. TfL has said it and ESW remain committed to reopening Gallows Corner ‘as soon as possible’. according to Essex Live.

Mr Blake-Herbet said:

“As a council, we are extremely disappointed with yet another delay in the completion and opening of Gallows Corner. Considering the closure was only supposed to last a few months, it has now become a bit of a farce.

“It’s clear that Essex and Suffolk Water grossly underestimated the time their works would take, and failed to factor in adequate time for testing the new water pipes, and it’s Havering residents and businesses who continue to pay the price for their failure. It is imperative that Transport for London and Essex and Suffolk Water complete their works as quickly as possible and finally get Gallows Corner moving again.”
