HRS Smart Signs deployed in three smart motorway projects

HRS has deployed its Smart Speed Signs on the M23, M20 and M62 Smart Motorway Projects in time for the opening of additional lanes on these projects.

Smart Signs provide the opportunity for speed signs to be changed remotely eliminating the need for road workers to cross or work near live traffic lanes.

The signs, which look like an ordinary temporary speed signs, however they are programmed to display up to three different speed variants at the push of a button. The signs are controlled remotely via HRS’ Iternet of Things device management platform which also connects all of HRS’ other digital services including Intellicone, Smart Closure and Smart Taper.

Roger Poeth, Managing Director of HRS said: “I am very proud of our technical and delivery teams. They have managed to develop, manufacture and deploy the Smart Signs in under just three months and in very challenging circumstances. It would not have been possible without the support from our clients and their delivery partners and pulled out all the stops to make this happen. Overall, a fantastic result for everyone involved and we are pleased to be able to contribute to the safe operation of the Smart Motorway Projects while they are completed over the following months.”
