The UK’s Intelligent Transport Society is beginning a campaign to boost the number of organisations involved, as it looks to attract “new mobility” companies to complement the vast existing membership across all forms of ITS.
ITS (UK) is the world’s oldest national ITS Association, boasting 150 members from across Government, consultancies, transport technology manufacturing and academia.
New providers delivering emerging solutions as diverse as electric vehicle innovations, smart parking, driver assistance systems and micromobility are also welcome, with ITS (UK) keen for them to become part of the membership.
“There is a huge range of benefits of being a member including joining any of 15 Forums specialising in a range of transport topics where best practice and innovations are shared,” explained ITS (UK) Secretary General Jennie Martin. “ITS (UK) also facilitates excellent networking with government, key industry personnel and introductions to businesses as required. There is also a huge resource of ITS material available, the ability to contribute to consultations and reports to government, and support from a committed Secretariat team. ITS (UK) also shares member press releases and communications in our weekly newsletter that goes to well over thousand targeted industry professionals and on the ITS (UK) website.
“We offer cut-price membership rates for SMEs and micro business start-ups, delivering them a great opportunity to develop their businesses both in the UK and internationally, as we work closely with ITS organisations around the world.”
To help this growth, our existing members are being encouraged to engage with organisations they work with which they think ought to join. As a thank you, members who successfully recruit will be allocated £100 to donate to the charity of their choice, or to go into ITS (UK)’s STEM fund towards encouraging younger people into the industry.
“In my day job at Innovate UK I see so many companies that I think would benefit from being a member of ITS (UK),” added ITS (UK) Vice Chair Karla Jakeman, who heads up the Society’s Strategy Committee. “In doing so, they will not only get a huge range of benefits but will send a signal of their commitment to the collective promotion of technology within the wider transport industry – something ITS (UK) is passionate about.”
