ITS (UK) members prepare to meet in Birmingham next week

Transport industry professionals are preparing to meet at Traffex and Parkex at Birmingham’s NEC next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and ITS (UK) Members are making a significant contribution to the event.

The UK’s Intelligent Transport Systems industry association has served on the programme committee, supporting the organisers and ensuring that the many technology innovations its Members are involved in are highlighted during the three days of exhibition and sessions.

More than a hundred speakers have been lined up for the Traffex Conference, including Transport Minister Baroness Vere who will deliver the opening keynote.

ITS (UK) Secretary General Jennie Martin chairs a discussion on Long Term Collaboration and Engagement, with a panel including ARTSM, Executive Members National Highways, and NY Highways, as well as one on using ITS to Enhance Road Worker Safety on High-Speed and Local Roads with panellists from Members Navtech Radar and Costain, and Highways Resource Solutions.  She’ll also chair a panel on End of Life and the Circular Economy with contributions from Members Yunex and Crown Commercial Service, and Stuff4Life.

Elsewhere, at ITS (UK)’s invitation, Alistair Gollop of Executive Members Mott MacDonald talks about Making ITS Equipment Resilient to Extreme and Changing Weather Conditions. With Thursday being National Air Quality Day, ITS (UK)’s Smart Environment Forum Chair and Carbon Ambassador Keith McCabe of Simplifai presents on Using ITS to Deliver Carbon and Air Quality Benefits and also takes part in a panel debate on Optimising the Environment Around Highway Networks and Protecting Against Climate Change with Executive Members National Highways, plus Butterfly Conservation and Proving Services.

Other Members in the conference programme include Executive Members WSP, IBI, Transport Scotland, DfT, Arup, TRL, Innovate UK, Transport for London, SRL and Transport for West Midlands, and Members Costain, Westcotec, Nicander, Hertfordshire County Council, SWARCO, Virizion, Transport for Greater Manchester and Leeds College of Building.

ITS (UK) is also one of 150 exhibitors, and can be found in the exhibition at Stand K025. Traffex 2022, with Parkex, runs for three days, opening on Tuesday 14th June at 9:30am, and running until 5:00pm each day (4:30pm on the final afternoon). Visitors can register free of charge online.
