ITS World Congress team urge UK to back the bid

The team at Transport for West Midlands who’re working to bring the major ITS World Congress 2027 to Birmingham are urging UK consultants, suppliers and academics to back their bid by writing letters of support to the overall organisers ERTICO.

The event takes place under European jurisdiction every three years. It was held in Hamburg last year, will be held in Dubai – which is covered by ITS Europe – in 2024, with the 2027 hosting rights up for grabs.

Transport for West Midlands is leading the bid to host the event, which attracts in excess of ten thousand people from around the world, to the National Exhibition Centre.

It’s asking for organisations to write to the CEO of ERTICO, Joost Vantomme, expressing their support for the bid. It is seen as important to demonstrate to ERTICO that a host’s local industry will be heavily involved in the event.

Transport for West Midlands has written a draft letter available here. Organisations can either send the emails to ERTICO directly, copied to TfWM, or to TfWM to be forwarded on.
