Essential maintenance works to Stamford Town Bridge in Lincolnshire are due to get underway from Tuesday 1 September, with the scheme expected to take up to six weeks to complete.
The works will involve cleaning and repointing the bridge soffit beneath the structure as part of ongoing works to maintain the bridge and protect its long-term condition. As all activity will take place underneath the bridge, no road closures will be required during the scheme.
Work hours will be 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Friday with no weekend working planned, owever, some temporary parking restrictions will be needed to allow the works to be carried out safely and efficiently. This means that eight parking bays on Bath Row will be suspended for the duration of the project to accommodate site units.
Eight more bays at the eastern end of Bath Row car park will be suspended, but only on the first and final days of the works. This is to facilitate the delivery and removal of temporary working pontoons, from the river.
Advance warning signs will be installed on site to advise motorists of the exact dates of the parking bay suspensions.
Cllr David East, Executive Member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council said:
“While every effort will be made to minimise disruption during these essential bridge works, it may be the case that a limited number of residents, businesses and visitors may experience some temporary noise and dust during work hours. LCC’s specialist work team will operate as quickly and efficiently as possible to complete the scheme and reduce inconvenience wherever practicable.
“I would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while these important maintenance works are carried out to help preserve Stamford Town Bridge for the future.”
