Northern Ireland’s Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed that works on an active travel project covering Durham Street and College Square North will begin this week. The investment forms part of the Belfast Cycling Network, reports 4NI.

The project will upgrade existing cycling facilities to provide a two-way protected cycle lane, connecting the active travel measures completed through the Grand Central Station project to the northern side of Belfast city centre at College Street.

Minister Kimmins said:

“This Belfast Cycling Network scheme further demonstrates my commitment to creating safer, more attractive infrastructure for people who choose to walk, wheel or cycle for many of their shorter everyday journeys. I would like to thank the public and residents in advance for their cooperation and ask that they comply with all temporary traffic restrictions while these works are being completed.”
