National Highways issues Net Zero update

National Highways has put out an update focusing on carbon to mark the second anniversary of the publication of its Net Zero Plan. This plan included targets to decarbonise the strategic road network.

It says in the past 12 months, its seen a reduction in carbon across all three emission sectors. It’ll be giving details in its accounts, as well as announcing the winning entries for its low-carbon innovation accelerator competition, working with a range of companies and innovators to explore new ideas.

It’s also publishing its first Task Force for Climate-Related Financial Disclosures report setting out how its identifying and managing climate risks and how it plans to integrate this further over the coming years.

The update talks about cutting direct carbon emissions, cutting emissions from maintenance and construction and net zero carbon travel.
