New M4 bridge installed in 24 hours by HE

A new bridge has been installed on the M4 in 24 hours, meaning junctions 5 and 6 near Slough, Berkshire was fully reopened at around 2am on May 3rd ahead of its scheduled finish time of 6am on May 4th.

The bridge beams installed make up the bridge deck of the new Recreation Ground bridge, a pedestrian and cycle bridge linking Upton Court Park in Slough with Datchet. The new bridge will be open to the public later this year. The work is part of a project to upgrade the M4 between junctions 3 and 12 to a smart motorway.
