Researchers from Imperial College London have found no traces of Covid-19 on London’s transport network since starting repeat testing last October.
The Press Association reports they’ve been taking air and surface samples on tube journey between two major stations and on a bus ride but have found nothing.
The report explainss that samples are taken from station concourses and often-touched areas like escalator handles and ticket machines. All tests have proved negative for all variants.
Dr David Green, senior research fellow at Imperial, said the findings from the “very sensitive” testing are “reassuring for passengers” and added that the ongoing testing will be useful when restrictions are eased.
