Essential resurfacing work on the A470 just outside Builth Wells, Powys, will require a “full carriageway closure” for seven nights in early September, leading to a 67-mile for some drivers.

The A470 along Hay Road leading out of Builth towards Erwood will be closed from 7pm to 7am each night from Monday 7 September Monday 14 September, reports the Powys County Times.

Traffic Wales says the work will be concentrated on a section of the highway known as the Ty Gwyn bends, with a lengthy diversion in place.

Motorists who would need to travel the entirety of the diversion will face a 67-mile journey, which would take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

“Work to carry out essential carriageway resurfacing to a section of the A470 at Ty Gwyn, east of Builth Wells, will commence on September 7, for 7 nights,” said Traffic Wales. The work will be carried out over 7 nights (from) 7pm-7am under a full carriageway closure.”
