TTF “best ever” conference praised

The Transport Technology Forum’s 2025 Annual Conference has been praised for its “Inspired conversations, passion for breaking norms and innovative solutions.”

The event in Leicestershire last week, sponsored by Clearview Intelligence, brought together local authorities, central government and the supply chain for two days of industry updates and informed debate along with a sizeable exhibition and two nights of networking, sponsored by Yunex Traffic and AECOM.

“Clearview Intelligence was honoured to sponsor the 2025 TTF Conference, where we discussed our commitment to integrating transport data and maximising its value,” commented the company’s Head of Business Development Ralph Bates, who was one of the speakers. “The event fostered invaluable collaboration, driving the industry forward with shared insights and innovative solutions. The inspired conversations highlighted a passion for breaking norms and unlocking new potential, making the TTF Conference absolutely standout for us once again. Our offer still stands, for any local authorities looking to understand what can be achieved with their data sets beyond the norm, please reach out to us!”

The Department for Transport-led TTF brings together national government, local authorities, suppliers and academia to discuss government policy and showcase best practice and innovation in the use of technology in transport.  This year’s conference featured 300 delegates, including 18 senior officials from the Department for Transport and more than half of English local highway authorities outside London represented.

As well as eight updates on policy from Department for Transport officials, ranging from digital traffic regulation orders and transport data to cyber security and Artificial Intelligence, the conference involved several case studies from local authorities.  This included Portsmouth’s innovative use of existing data to drive a more efficient network, https://highways-news.com/captivate-podcast/highways-voices-19-september-2-the-uk-pavilion-at-the-its-world-congress-pitwalk/Bath and North East Somerset detailing maintenance ideas in the face of significant financial challenges, and Rotherham explaining how money from the Traffic Signals Obsolescence Grant improved travel, energy and future readiness in the area.

“We had a great Conference again this year, I think our best ever,” commented TTF Manager Darren Capes, who is ITS Policy Lead at the DfT.  “The fact that my senior colleagues in the Department are now coming to me to be involved proves the importance of the event in sharing and discussing policy, which is exactly why the TTF was set up in the first place.”

This year’s Conference also included a round table sponsored by AECOM chaired by Mr Capes which discussed the future of transport technology, featuring a number of local authorities, representatives of suppliers and the CEO of the Local Council Roads Innovation Group.  It agreed that transport technology must be delivered by a more joined up public sector over the next five years in order to maximise the benefits that can be delivered to the travelling public.

“The discussion was a great opportunity presented by DfT, which had a good mix of strategic and local roads authorities, suppliers and consultants,” commented AECOM Director and Head of Technology Services Lee Street.  “It was interesting to hear everyone’s challenges, like how to get ‘buy-in’ for ITS initiatives and how procurement and funding presents unique challenges to ITS.  This was an open and honest discussion, which identified key themes for ITS over the next period.  It also provided a great networking opportunity and a good precursor to the event, especially because we could speak freely.” “It was a privilege to participate in the pre-event round table which provided invaluable insight into the business and practical challenges faced by both public and private sector alike,” added Clearview Managing Director Nick Lanigan.  “’The TTF has become one of the most influential events in the ITS industry calendar and Clearview is immensely proud of the strong brand association that we have established.”
