Uber launches new emissions safety features to “help customers go green”

Ride-hail company Uber has announced a series of new features it says makes it easier for riders and drivers to go green.

Its new Emission Savings feature, located in the Account page, shows the emissions riders avoided by choosing Green and Comfort Electric rides, because, the company says “knowledge is power”.

It’s also added a range of perks for riders and drivers to encourage them to go green at airports, with riders who choose Uber Comfort Electric or Uber Green, getting lower fares and exclusive access to dedicated pickup zones in preferred locations at the airport. And for drivers, we’ll offer convenient, discounted, or even free access to fast chargers in the driver waiting lot.

Its also expanding Uber Carshare, allowing people to borrow a car when they need one, so they don’t have to own one.

It is bringing this to more than 200 cities around the world, saying “Uber offers a suite of sustainable products including Uber Green for low and zero-emission rides, Comfort Electric for electric rides in premium vehicles, and Uber Planet to offset the cost of emissions when you ride in markets where EVs aren’t widely available”.
